AgriPV, short for agriculture and photovoltaics, means using the same land for both farming and solar power generation. This dual-use approach helps produce food and renewable energy at the same time, increasing overall land productivity while reducing the need for new land and dependence on fossil fuels. This Guideline is the first comprehensive document developed by the Centre of Excellence at ICAR-IARI to support structured implementation of AgriPV in India. The report aims to enable informed decision-making and promote the sustainable scaling of AgriPV systems aligned with India's renewable energy targets.
Guidelines for Building Integrated PV in India
India aims to achieve 500 GW of renewable energy capacity and net-zero emissions by 2070, but limited land for large projects makes new solutions essential. Building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV), which embed solar panels into roofs, walls, and windows, allow buildings to generate clean power without extra space. As India’s cities expand rapidly, BIPV can make new and existing buildings more energy-efficient and sustainable. These Guidelines provide standard recommendations to support safe, efficient, and widespread use of BIPV in the country’s renewable energy transition.

While several reports at national and State government have defined what adaptation and resilience building could encompass, an overarching Adaptation Action Plan for the country is an imperative to provide guiding direction towards geographical and functional areas that need attention and investments.

This report presents a comparative analysis of the National Adaptation Plan (NAP) processes implemented by Bangladesh, Brazil, Germany, South Africa, and Sri Lanka. The primary objective is to extract insights and provide recommendations for optimizing and enhancing India’s NAP process. The study employs a generic set of questions tailored to each country’s NAP context to extract detailed insights, collecting data through online interviews and questionnaires. The countries were selected based on their similarities to India in socio-economic markers and other aspects, with Germany included for its advanced practices.
