Germany intends to strengthen its financial and technical cooperation and other assistance to India with a long term goal of at least 10 billion Euros of new and additional commitments by 2030. Around 90% of these commitments thus far are being implemented via long-term interest-reduced loans which are repaid by India. Around 10% of the commitments are utilized for technical cooperation projects that support the implementation of innovative development approaches and capacity development on national, state and local level as well as grants. Natural Resource Management Umbrella Programm (Accompanying Measure)
The FC measure comprises the construction of the Pare hydropower plant with an installed capacity of 110 MW in underdeveloped north-east India. The objective of the FC measure is the sustainable provision of climate-friendly energy for economic development through the utilisation of hydropower. The borrower and project-executing agency is the North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Ltd (NEEPCO).
The complementary measure is provided to the project-executing agency North Eastern Electric Power Corporation to improve the environmental and social compatibility of the project and to eliminate existing deficits of the project-executing agency with regard to project planning and implementation.
The objective of the project is the improvement of the living conditions of the mainly indigenous population in around 100 villages in the Indian state Tripura by improving the natural livelihood in the project region. The project aims to strengthen village self-governance and the establishment of participatory planning structures for the implementation of incomes-creating and environmentally sustainable investments in the project region.
The aim of the project is to contribute to improving the living conditions of the rural population and to rehabilitate the natural resources in selected areas in southern Rajasthan that suffer of progressing degradation. It includes measures to reduce soil erosion, improve the groundwater situation and rehabilitation of pastureland.
The project involves the installation of orchards (wadis) for 4,700 families of indigenous people (adivasis) and is an extension and spatial extention of the project Adivasi program Gujarat, phase 1 (BMZ no. 1993 65 842) in the neighboring districts. The aim of the project is the sustainable increase of farm productivity and the operating income of the participants.
The measure includes the rehabilitation of selected watersheds in 4 Districts in Gujarat. The aim of the project is the stabilization of agricultural production in 25 watersheds, and the implementation of erosion and water protection measures and creation of small-scale irrigation systems.The activities financed by the project include soil conservation, the construction of small rear barrier dams, afforestation, water conservation and water storage, well deepening, capacity building and support of Village Watershed Committees and self-help groups.
